With a fearless approach to music and a deep-rooted passion for groove, Alex Bershadsky has carved out a unique space in the world of jazz, fusion, and beyond. A virtuoso bassist, composer, and bandleader, Alex blends technical mastery with raw energy, fusing jazz, funk, fusion, and global rhythms into a sound that is both intricate and electrifying.
Alex’s playing is a seamless mix of melodic improvisation, groove-heavy bass lines, and dynamic storytelling, drawing from influences that range from jazz legends to the rebellious spirit of punk. His style is bold, unfiltered, and deeply expressive, capturing both the sophistication of jazz and the raw, untamed energy of rock and funk.
Collaborations & Projects
Over the years, Alex has shared the stage and studio with some of the most renowned musicians in the world, including Dennis Chambers, Mike Stern, Michael Manring, Oz Noy, Nathaniel Townsley, and many more. His versatility and innovative approach have led him to work on unique projects in some of the world’s top studios, including a special recording at Steve Vai’s Mother Ship Studio.
In 2014, Alex collaborated with legendary drummer Dennis Chambers on a groundbreaking video project spanning Israel and New York. He has also been a part of the G.O.D (Gathering of Drummers) project, an internationally acclaimed musical experience led by Pavel Fajt, bringing together an eclectic mix of artists for an immersive and dynamic performance.
The Trio & Current Work
These days, Alex is actively performing with his powerhouse trio, a high-energy project that blends deep grooves, virtuosic improvisation, and a rich fusion of styles, including Latin and African influences. The trio is known for their dynamic and unpredictable live performances, where every show is a fresh musical journey.
Currently, the trio is working on a new album, which will be Alex’s third solo release and the first recorded with this lineup. Unlike his previous albums, which featured different musical collaborations, this project showcases the unique chemistry of the trio and their evolving, boundary-pushing sound.
In addition to performing and composing, Alex is a dedicated educator, conducting bass clinics and masterclasses worldwide, sharing his knowledge and passion with musicians across generations.
Discography & Legacy
Alex released his debut album, “Junk” (2007), a collection of musical explorations showcasing his adventurous spirit, followed by “Anonymous” (2011), both produced in New York in collaboration with Ian Freitor. Now, more than a decade later, his upcoming third album marks a new chapter, built on years of live experience and a refined musical vision.
In the 90s, Alex co-founded two influential bands:
• RTZ – a jazz fusion band with acclaimed drummer Asaf Sirkis and guitarist Amir Perelman, which toured Europe and released two albums.
• Zonzee – a genre-blending project that released two albums, including “Time Flies” (NMC Records), which received high praise, and “Buzz” (2005), featuring the legendary Mike Stern.
For over 10 years, Alex was proudly endorsed by Zon Guitars, representing the brand at NAMM Show Los Angeles and performing alongside Michael Manring at bass clinics in the UK.
